KSP identified the trooper as Hayden Phillips, who was assigned to Post 3 in Bowling Green. He was a graduate of Cadet Class 103. Warren County sits about 210 miles southwest of Cincinnati, and the shooting happened while Phillips patrolled the interstate.
KSP Colonel Phillip Burnett Jr. Released a statement honoring Phillips. "His dedication to duty and commitment to the commonwealth will not be forgotten," Burnett said. Authorities issued a statewide Blue Alert following the shooting.
The loss hits the ranks of Kentucky State Police hard. Phillips is the latest trooper killed while on the job, and his post in Bowling Green must now grieve one of their own as the case against the suspect moves forward.
A cadet class number and a post assignment are often the only details fellow troopers get to hold onto when one of their own doesn't come home.
