Who runs it
806 Connect was founded in Lubbock by Brandon R., and it is run from here. Brandon also runs 806 Growth, a marketing company for local businesses. That relationship is spelled out below, under how we make money.

What we cover
Lubbock and the 806: the city, its neighborhoods, and the South Plains towns around it, like Wolfforth, Shallowater, Slaton, Idalou, Levelland and Brownfield. We cover local businesses, events, food, weather, schools, city government and the news that affects people who live here.
What we are not
- Not a scanner page. We link to the public police and fire scanner audio for anyone who wants to listen. We do not turn scanner chatter into posts, and we do not name anyone from it.
- Not partisan. We report on city council, petitions and elections the way we report on anything else: who said what, with the source. We do not endorse candidates or take sides.
- Not reviews for sale. No business can pay to add, hide or reorder a review. Star ratings come from Google as Google reports them.
- Not emergency services. If someone is in danger, call 911. Nobody watches this site around the clock, and a message to us is not a report to police or fire.
How we make money
806 Connect is free to read, and it is free for a business to be listed and to claim its listing. The money comes from three places:
- Paid listing plans. Business owners can upgrade to a paid plan for extras like a leads inbox, more photos, and edits that publish right away. What each plan includes is on our advertising page.
- Sponsors. Some businesses sponsor a section, a neighborhood page or the space beside a story. Every one of those spots is labeled Sponsored or Paid placement.
- 806 Growth. Brandon also runs 806 Growth, which sells marketing help to local businesses, and 806 Connect points owners to its free tools. You can use either one without buying the other. Being an 806 Growth client does not change where a business shows up here or what we report about it.
