Community standards
The ground rules for what neighbors send us and post here: tips, events, photos and reviews.
What you can send us
News tips, with photos or a short video. Events for the calendar. Specials, if you own or run the business. Reviews of places you have been. And corrections, whenever we get something wrong.
What we will not publish
- Private people in a bad moment. Names, faces or license plates of private people tied to a crash, an arrest or an accusation that officials have not made public.
- Kids. Anything that identifies a minor in a crime, accident or dispute.
- Hate, threats and harassment. Including sexual content and attacks on someone for who they are.
- Rumors posed as fact. A tip stays a lead until it is confirmed.
- Spam and hidden ads. Ads dressed up as tips or reviews, and anything copied from another outlet or page without permission.
Reviews
Write about a place you have actually been, in your own words. Do not review your own business, a competitor, or a business where you or your family work. Businesses may not offer anything in exchange for a review. The full rules are in our review guidelines.
How moderation works
A person looks at submissions before they post. If you sent a tip, the tracking code you got shows where it stands. Anyone can report a review, and a reported review stays up until a person decides.
Conflicts of interest
806 Connect was founded by the person who runs 806 Growth, which sells marketing to local businesses. When a story is about a business that pays 806 Connect or is an 806 Growth client, the story says so. People who work on 806 Connect do not write reviews of businesses here.
