Lubbock ISD to hold Board of Trustees meeting Thursday, Sept. 24

The regular meeting marks a milestone for families who have watched new campuses go up without a permanent name attached. Naming three schools in one sitting is a bigger batch than the board typically handles at once, and it gives parents in those attendance zones something concrete to call their kids' new building instead of a construction address or a number.

Recognition items for students and staff round out the agenda. It's a routine but meaningful part of how the district highlights achievement outside the classroom.

Parents zoned for the new campuses stand to get the most out of Thursday's vote. Once trustees settle on names, PTAs, mascots, and school pride start to take real shape instead of staying in limbo. Staff recognitions also give the district a chance to put faces to the people running these schools day to day, something that matters in a city where a lot of families know their kids' teachers by name.
