Lubbock hizo historia en Power Slap: aquí está quién ganó

Power Slap brought professional slap fighting to Lubbock for the first time Thursday night, taking over United Supermarkets Arena for Double Eagle Energy Power Slap 23: Wolverine vs. Greenhalgh.

Thousands of people showed up to watch grown men slap each other across the face, and West Texas finally got a look at what that actually means in person. The card featured former UFC and WWE stars mixed in with championship belts on the line, plus its fair share of knockouts and disqualifications. Organizers picked Lubbock for Power Slap's first-ever event in Texas.

The main event delivered on the hype. Ron "Wolverine" Bata defended his Power Slap Light title in front of the hometown crowd and walked away still holding the belt.

For a city used to hosting Texas Tech football and Buddy Holly Hall concerts, adding professional slap fighting to the rsum is a new one. United Supermarkets Arena has seen plenty of sporting events over the years, but nothing quite like grown adults lining up to take turns hitting each other as hard as legally possible. Whether Power Slap comes back to Lubbock again remains an open question. For one night, the Hub City had a front row seat to a sport most people had only seen clips of online, belt and all.
