Paving operations scheduled for US 84/FM 179 intersection

Crews plan to work on US 84 main lanes, on- and off-ramps, and a section of FM 179 during the stretch. Drivers should expect lane and ramp closures throughout the project, and TxDOT has already put message boards up along the route warning people ahead of time.

When the US 84 ramps close, traffic will be rerouted through Loop 388. No nighttime closures are planned, so the disruptions will happen only during the day.

For anyone who drives through Shallowater on a regular commute, this project could turn a quick trip into a longer one for about a week and a half. Locals who rely on FM 179 to connect to US 84 should build in extra time until the work wraps up in October.
