Citibus lanzará la Fase Uno de su Plan de Servicio de 5 Años el
Citibus will launch Phase One of its 5-Year Service Plan on Sept. 28, adding one new bus route and redesigning three others across Lubbock.
The plan was adopted in November 2024. Phase One rolls out four routes, each built by combining and streamlining pieces of existing service rather than starting from scratch.
The biggest addition is Route 205, the Pink line, which runs from North Indiana down through Texas Tech University and Covenant before reaching South Quaker and 122nd Street. That stretch into South Lubbock is new coverage, not a reshuffled version of something that already existed. Route 025, the Purple line, takes over for the old Route 6 and stitches together service along Parkway Drive, Dunbar, and 50th Street to tighten connections on that corridor.
For people who depend on Citibus to get to class, work, or medical appointments, these changes could shorten trips or open up destinations that required transfers before. South Lubbock riders especially have had limited options, and Route 205 directly addresses that gap. Anyone riding the old Route 6 will want to check the new Purple line schedule before Sept. 28, since the number and path are both changing.
More phases are still to come, meaning Sept. 28 is only the beginning of what Lubbock riders will see.
