The win came after last week's loss. Castellanos made his first full-game start as a Red Raider and used both his arm and his legs. He completed 11 of 24 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns, then ran 19 times for 124 yards and another score.

His first touchdown pass went 24 yards to tight end Terrance Carter Jr. Midway through the first quarter and gave Texas Tech a 7-3 lead. Arizona retook the lead early in the second quarter when quarterback Noah Fifita hit wide receiver Isiah Mizell on a 94-yard touchdown.

"Champions get off the mat, and we got off the mat today," head coach Joey McGuire said.

For fans, the big question was who plays quarterback. McGuire said the situation will keep getting evaluated, but Castellanos strengthened his case to stay the starter. "I thought he gave us juice today," McGuire said. Castellanos kept it simple. "We just wanted to win and I think we played really well today," he said.
