The Liberty Patriots are 7-0 overall and 1-0 in district play. They are coming off a bye week and have beaten six of their first seven opponents by 30 or more points.
Estacado's Matadors are 8-0 and 2-0 in district. They opened league play with a 64-35 win at Perryton, then beat Borger 66-0. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
Liberty head coach Joe Sexton knows what is on the line. "If we played these guys week 1, week 3, we would still want to win, but you could say it's got maybe a gold ball attached to this one," he said. He also called it "a big deal for us to again, just play somebody in town."
Estacado head coach Eric Ward keeps his message simple. He wants his team disciplined and wants no penalties handing anything away.
These two have history, even if it is short. Estacado won 44-27 in 2024, and Liberty answered with a 49-21 win last season. Those are the only two meetings since Liberty started playing varsity football.
Tonight's winner takes the series lead.
