Quincy Street construction expected to be complete in late winter, spring 2027

The project covers new traffic signals, updated lighting and ADA upgrades along a 2.7-mile stretch of Quincy Street, according to Dianah Coronado, a public information officer for the Lubbock district office of the Texas Department of Transportation. Construction started in April 2025 and is now 85% complete, after more than a year of lane closures and slower traffic for anyone driving that stretch.

For commuters, the finish line is close but not quite here. The signal, lighting and ADA work will keep crews on site for months after the pavement is finished. Anyone routing around Quincy Street should plan on some disruption lingering into next year.

It's another sign of how long modern road construction stretches beyond the part drivers actually notice.
