SPC to offer Fall 2026 community music classes for teens - KCBD

The first, the Youth Live Ensemble, puts musicians of any instrument and skill level in a room with SPC Creative Arts faculty and professional equipment. Students learn bass, drums, guitar, keyboards and vocals, the basics of playing in a band. The second option, a new Songwriting and Music Composition class, focuses on the writing side, giving teens a basic grounding in music theory and lyrical design.

For families across Lubbock and the South Plains, this gives kids who might otherwise wait until college to get formal music training a shot at it now, taught by the same faculty who work with SPC's Creative Arts students. Anyone who has driven out to Levelland for a football game or a rodeo knows the campus, but this puts it on the radar for a different reason: a teenager who wants to start a band or write real songs instead of just noodling in a bedroom.

Two classes, one campus, and a fall semester that could turn a kid messing around on guitar into someone who actually knows what a bridge is for.
