Manassas City police responded to the United Rentals on Wellington Road around 7 a.m. After multiple 911 callers reported the shooting. The gunman fled the scene, sparking a pursuit that ended more than 100 miles away in Augusta County, where Virginia State Police boxed him in on I-81.
The shooter was identified as 37-year-old Marvin Grant, of Charlotte, North Carolina. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the standoff with troopers, according to local and state officials.
The three victims worked alongside Grant. Their coworkers and families are left waiting for word on their recovery while investigators try to piece together what drove a colleague to attack before dawn, then lead police on a chase spanning two Virginia jurisdictions.
