Proceeds will support the post's 16 programs, including outreach to people experiencing homelessness and transportation to polling places. Kevin Black, the post's vice commander, said the homeless outreach is a big one. "We help the people who are homeless," he said.

The Get Out the Vote program gives rides to veterans and nonveterans who have no way to reach a polling booth. "We do that nationwide," Black said.

The expo also features archery and taxidermists, according to Jerrod Johnston, owner of Johnston Guns & Ammo in Stinnett. "If you do shoot anything with the guns you purchase here, we will be able to get you fixed up and have a mount on the wall," Johnston said.

Hutchinson County has about 1,300 veterans, Black said, and the post works to help those who are struggling. Folks who come to browse guns, watch archery, or talk taxidermy fund that work with their ticket. Admission is $5 per person or $10 for a three-day pass. Organizers will secure all firearms with zip ties and say every item on display must be legal.

Black has a simple name for how the post operates: heroes helping heroes.
