Jackson's team had just lost a close game. Well after it was over, Chubb stood near midfield talking with players from both teams. Jackson walked over, traded a few quick words with him, and threw a right hook.
Chubb did not swing back. He told the California Post he let Jackson throw the punch because "They always catch the second guy." His teammates then held him back, and he said he "just chilled."
Chubb chalked it up to emotions after a tight game. "Tempers flared," he said. "But it is what it is. We flushed it and we onto next week." He never named Jackson in his interview. "Somebody swung, but hey, that's not on me to tell who," Chubb said. "There's cameras out there."
For Chubb, the matter looks finished. Asked if he was OK, he said he was fine, smiling and surrounded by his team. Jackson's week is less settled. Whether he plays or gets suspended next week is an open question.
