Citibus launches first phase of five-year service plan - KCBD

Citibus adopted the full five-year blueprint back in November 2024, and this is the first chunk of it actually hitting the streets. Route 205, marked in pink, is the standout addition, a new line running from North Indiana through Texas Tech and Covenant down to South Quaker and 122nd Street. That's a real expansion into South Lubbock, an area that's grown fast but hasn't always had transit keeping pace.

Route 025, the purple line, is a redesign of the old Route 6, folding in pieces of that former route to streamline how riders move through the system. Citibus says the goal across all these changes is a more efficient, better-connected network rather than just tacking on new stops.

For regular riders, this means route numbers and paths some people have used for years are about to change. Students commuting to Texas Tech and patients heading to Covenant stand to gain from the new Route 205 line. Anyone who currently rides the old Route 6 will need to learn the new Route 025 layout before the September switch.

Nearly two years will have passed between the plan's approval and its first route hitting the pavement.
