'Creativity, Imagination, Originality': Anti-AI Art at East Lubbock Art House

The class turned into a lesson on what sets human-made art apart. Organizers framed the session around creativity, imagination and originality, values they say get lost when a computer generates an image instead of a person. The Art House sits in East Lubbock and runs the class as a regular offering for its community.

AI tools are everywhere now, on phones, in social media and in search results. For a neighborhood art class, that means making a deliberate case for sitting down with a brush or pencil instead of typing a prompt. The class gives local artists, including kids and adults who might not otherwise pick up a paintbrush, a reason to keep making things with their hands.

The class offers a hands-on alternative at a time when AI-generated images flood feeds and websites without much explanation of how they got made. Art House organizers are betting that people still want to know a human made the thing they are looking at.
