Lubbock AMBUCS renovates 75-year-old food booth ahead of South Plains Fair

This marks the nonprofit's third year participating in the fair, and members wanted the dine-in booth ready before gates opened. The South Plains Fair draws crowds from across West Texas every year, so keeping that old booth running through the heat and crowds took real work.

Anyone who has walked the fairgrounds in late September knows shade and a seat can be hard to find. For regular fairgoers, the renovated booth now offers a place to escape the sun instead of eating standing up in the middle of the midway. AMBUCS members hope the upgrades keep it serving fairgoers for many seasons to come.

A booth built when Truman was president is still feeding Lubbock families today.
