Lubbock Chamber Announces 2026 Hub City BBQ Cookoff Award Winners - KCBD
Sixty cook teams competed for barbecue bragging rights at the 27th annual Hub City BBQ Cookoff, and Houston Tents and Events walked away with first place in the Chilton category.
The Lubbock Chamber put on the cookoff this afternoon, with West Texas Land Guys and Coors Light presenting. Teams squared off in five categories: Chilton, Pork Ribs, Brisket, Dessert, and a Cook's Choice Challenge. United Supermarkets served as official grocer, supplying all the competition meat.
In Chilton, Houston Tents and Events took the top spot, followed by Atmos Energy, Leprino #2, West Texas Land Guys #3, and KT Black rounding out the top five. Over in Pork Ribs, SRH Landscapes claimed first, with David Jordan Homes #2, Realty Refined, and United also placing.
That kind of turnout pulled in a serious cross section of Lubbock business, from energy companies to landscapers to homebuilders, all firing up grills for a shot at local pride. Events like this give neighbors a reason to gather and give local companies a low stakes way to compete outside the boardroom. Next year marks the cookoff's 28th run.
