Lubbock driver arrested after Sunday night pedestrian crash
A driver faces charges after a pedestrian was hit late Sunday night on University Avenue, just south of the Loop.
The Lubbock Police Department's Major Crash Unit is investigating the wreck. It happened around 11:59 p.m. Officers responded to the 6500 block of University Avenue, where they located an injured pedestrian. The University Avenue stretch, just before the South Plains Mall heading south, handles consistent car and pedestrian traffic. Even close to midnight, people are often leaving dinner spots near 66th Street or heading home after a late movie. This wreck forces us to consider pedestrian safety on major thoroughfares throughout town.
