Lubbock paddleboard business pairs sunset yoga with moonlit float - KCBD

The paddleboard business has operated in Lubbock for nine years. Owner and operator Velvet Hodges says the idea came from Amanda at Soul Yoga, who suggested combining the two activities this year. Dunbar Lake gives the event a natural, low-key setting away from the usual gym or studio scene.

Hodges says she wants to share the experience with people in Lubbock, giving them a reason to get outdoors and onto the water after dark. Outdoor recreation options can feel limited in the city once the sun goes down, so the framing matters. Pairing yoga with paddleboarding under moonlight turns a normal workout into something closer to an experience, not just exercise.

Lubbock already has yoga studios and paddleboard rentals, but stacking them together at a lake after sunset is new. The event also gives Soul Yoga and SUP LBK a joint offering that could draw crossover crowds, people who might not have tried the other activity otherwise.
