Rising RHP Harlie Wright commits to Texas Tech

Wright attends Clear Creek High School and plays travel ball for Hotshots National Nelson. The 5-foot-10 pitcher bats left-handed, lists utility as a secondary position, and has touched 70 mph on her fastball, numbers that turn heads at any level of recruiting.

Her sophomore season backed it up. Wright earned District 24-6A MVP honors in 2026 after helping Clear Creek finish 24-9 and reach the regional finals. She also picked up All-Galveston County Player of the Year honors. Wright showed why in the circle during Clear Creek's regional semifinal sweep of Katy Jordan, pitching 10 innings there.

For Red Raider fans watching the pipeline fill in, Wright joins Star Gutierrez and Tulutululelei Salue in the 2028 class. Texas Tech softball has leaned into landing talent early. A two-way threat with pop on the mound and speed in the circle gives the staff options down the road, and it signals the program is reaching well outside West Texas, pulling from the Houston area to build depth years before Wright ever steps foot on campus.

She won't throw a pitch in Lubbock for years, but the Red Raiders already know what they're getting, a lefty-hitting righty who can both shut teams down and hit them out of playoff runs.
