Rivera Era Begins Friday in Oklahoma

Rivera spent four years at Artesia High School before taking over the LCU program this summer, winning seven district titles during that stretch. His running career at Texas Tech produced two Big 12 Championships in the 800-meter, which gives him credibility with college-level athletes. The LCU men and women both compete at the Cameron-hosted meet Friday.

He's stepping into a program that has been trending up. The LCU men finished sixth at last year's Lone Star Conference Championships, so Rivera isn't rebuilding from scratch. He's being handed something with momentum and asked to push it further.
