T1D Lubbock Community Walk returns this fall - fox34.com
Breakthrough T1D will hold its second annual Lubbock Community Walk on Saturday, Oct.
Before the fall walk, organizers are hosting a kick-off event from 2 to 4 p.m. On Saturday, Aug. 29, at First United Methodist Church at 1411 Broadway Street. Folks can swing by the administration wing on the east side near the Broadway entrance to pick up walk materials, grab back-to-school snacks, and connect with others in the T1D community. It's a low-key way to get plugged in before the main event.
The walk is co-chaired by Sarah Adlis Benedetti, whose daughter Stella was diagnosed with T1D at age 4, and Dr. Tala Porter. That personal connection gives the event weight beyond a typical fundraiser. For the families in Lubbock managing daily insulin routines, school accommodations, and the constant mental load of T1D, having a local gathering point matters.
This is only the second year the walk has come to Lubbock, and it's already drawing enough momentum to warrant a dedicated kick-off event weeks ahead of time.
