Texas Tech announces record enrollment with fall enrollment numbers - Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

That number climbed from the more than 45,000 students Tech reported on the first day of classes, as students kept finishing registration and other enrollment steps through the opening weeks of the semester. The final count marks an increase of 3,841 students compared to last year, and it extends a streak of five straight years of enrollment growth for the university.

More students on campus means more foot traffic across Lubbock, from Broadway and University Avenue near campus to apartments and rental housing throughout the city. Restaurants and retail near the Depot District count on that student population too, and thousands more people calling Lubbock home means more customers this fall. Parking, housing demand, and classroom space all become bigger conversations on campus when enrollment keeps climbing year after year.

That kind of growth adds up fast, and 46,296 students is a lot of people to fit into one football season's worth of Jones AT&T Stadium traffic.
