That means the automatic comfort of a set rate is about to expire, and doing nothing could land someone on a different plan, possibly at a higher price, without realizing it. Delano's advice is simple: call your current provider or check online, confirm whether you want to stay on the same plan, and ask what else they offer before signing anything.

Deregulation handed Lubbock customers something most of Texas already had, the ability to shop electricity providers the way you shop car insurance. That freedom is real, but it also puts the homework on the customer. People who signed up in the early rush and then forgot about it are the ones most likely to get caught off guard this season.

For regular folks here, the practical move is to review before the renewal deadline, not after. Staying on autopilot is a choice too, just not always the cheapest one.
