TxDOT begins $695K intersection lighting and safety project across Lubbock District - KCBD

The Lubbock County intersections getting the upgrades are FM 1264 and FM 2641 at Regis Street, US 84 and 98th Street, US 84 and CR 3100 near Posey, and US 84 and FM 1585. The project also covers Crosby County, where crews will work on US 62/82 in Ralls, along with intersections in Yoakum and Gaines counties. TxDOT Lubbock District Director of Transportation Operations Jennifer Davidson, P.E., said most of the work happens off the shoulders of the roadways.

Davidson said the impact to traffic will be minimal, though the work will require daytime shoulder closures at various points during the project. Anyone who regularly drives US 84 toward Post or heads out to Ralls on US 62/82 should watch for crews and temporary lane restrictions in the coming weeks.

The project touches four counties across the South Plains, but three of the four Lubbock County intersections sit along US 84, a corridor that carries plenty of daily commuter and farm traffic. Better lighting at rural highway intersections tends to matter most after dark, when visibility drops and crash risk climbs.

Seven intersections, four counties, one contract just under $700,000.
