WBU's American Chemical Society chapter recognized - Plainview Herald

Robert Moore, a chemistry professor in WBU's Kenneth L. Mattox School of Mathematics and Sciences, said the chapter exists to help students launch their careers. He pointed to community outreach as a core piece of how the group prepares students, giving them hands-on experience beyond the classroom before they graduate.

For a regional university, national recognition like this carries weight. It signals that WBU's chemistry students are doing work that stacks up against bigger programs. The department now has something concrete to point to when recruiting future students into the sciences, and local families weighing where to send a kid interested in chemistry have one more data point in Wayland's favor.

Wayland Baptist, a school best known outside Plainview for basketball, just put its chemistry program on that short list too.
