Yates Flooring celebrates grand reopening at south Lubbock location - KCBD
Yates Flooring celebrated its grand reopening at a new south Lubbock location, marking 50 years in business after the Yates family opened its doors in 1976.
The store started out at the Five Points Shopping Center near 34th Street and Slide Road, a corner most longtime Lubbock folks can picture without directions. Bobby Yates, the company's president and founder, said he never imagined the shop would grow into one of the finest flooring stores in the country. Minority owner and CEO Ryan Rogers said the family is still trying to serve West Texas the same way Mr. And Mrs. Yates did when they started.
The new south Lubbock building is larger than the original spot, giving the business more room after five decades serving the same customers. The move signals a business betting on sticking around for another 50 years.
A shop that opened the same year as the Bicentennial is still cutting ribbons in 2026, still run by the same family name on the sign.
