A Lubbock Chevy Dealer Just Handed Its Auto Students a Fleet of Modern GM V8s - Yahoo Autos

Trade school teardown labs usually run on whatever shows up, old blocks and salvage-yard castoffs with tech that was outdated before the students enrolled. This donation breaks that pattern with modern GM V8s students can actually train on. The gift isn't a one-off gesture either. John Zwiacher, Scoggin-Dickey's dealer principal, arranged the donation and has sat on the advisory board for SPC's automotive program for 35 years.

The family tie runs deeper than the boardroom. Zwiacher's father-in-law, John Scoggin, helped start the automotive program back in the 1970s, which makes this donation feel more like a family keeping a promise than a company writing off equipment. Zwiacher put it plainly: the students always need equipment to work on.

For SPC students, this means hands-on time with engines that actually resemble what they'll see under the hood once they're working in shops around Lubbock. Newer material closes the gap between classroom learning and what dealerships and repair shops actually run today. The donation also keeps a decades-old relationship between a local dealer and a local college paying forward.
