Agricultural Education Pioneer Steve Fraze Receives Texas Hall of Fame Honor - Texas Tech University

Fraze spent three decades at Texas Tech shaping agricultural educators who now teach across the state. The association handed him the honor this summer at its annual Professional Development Conference in Corpus Christi, recognizing a career that stretched well past his faculty and administrative roles on campus.

One colleague called Fraze "a phenomenal leader throughout his career." His leadership shaped agricultural education both in Texas and nationally, the colleague said. That kind of praise doesn't come easy in a field built on training the people who train the next generation of farmers and ranchers.

For Lubbock, this lands close to home. Texas Tech's ag programs pull students from all over West Texas, and a lot of the teachers standing in front of high school ag classrooms right now came up through Davis College under people like Fraze. His influence shows up less in headlines and more in the classrooms, county fairs, and FFA chapters scattered across the state.
