Civil rights lawyer Ben Crump releases data from Nolan Wells’s cellphone

Wells was a Black college student. Attorneys representing his family have pushed for transparency, demanding the grand jury's investigative materials and the autopsy report be made public. Crump and his team discussed what the phone analysis showed, covering messages sent and received in the days before and on the day Wells died, though they stopped short of releasing a full report of that communication.

For his family, the fight isn't over. Releasing partial phone data instead of the complete record keeps the case in the open, but it also means people are left piecing together a picture from fragments rather than the whole file.
