Construction date set for second H-E-B location in Lubbock - KCBD

The site plan review was completed with the city back in October, locking in the start date. The new store will be massive: 130,000 square feet for the main building, plus a car wash and a fueling station on the same property. That corner puts it squarely on the west side of town, pulling H-E-B closer to neighborhoods that currently make the longer drive to the existing location.

Yates Flooring already cleared the way for this. The longtime flooring shop relocated to 122nd and Quaker, with that new location opening today. The company posted on Facebook that they're ready for the next chapter at their new spot.

For people on the west side of Lubbock, this is straightforward good news: a full-scale grocery option with fuel and a car wash closer to home. The project timeline calls for the store to be finished by November of next year, roughly 11 months of construction before the doors open.

Lubbock's first H-E-B opened to lines around the block, and the chain's expansion here suggests the city has grown enough to support two of the Texas grocery giant's flagship-sized stores.
