Did Texas Tech football rise in national rankings after Oregon State win? - Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

Texas Tech football climbed to No.
The Red Raiders sit at 2-0, but the win came with plenty of questions still hanging over the team. BYU took over the 13th spot Tech vacated, and the Big 12 has three teams in the current Top 25, with Utah at 17 and Houston at 23.
That Houston ranking matters a lot right now. Tech opens Big 12 play Friday against the Cougars in Galaxy Stadium, and it doubles as a Top 25 matchup between two ranked conference foes.
For Tech fans around Lubbock, the ranking bump is a nice number to point to, but it comes with a catch. Beating Oregon State by 11 points doesn't erase the questions coaches and fans are already asking about this squad heading into conference play. That trip was supposed to build confidence, instead it left more doubts before Big 12 games start counting.
Friday's game against a ranked Houston team will tell Lubbock a lot more than the coaches poll did. Undefeated is undefeated, but the Red Raiders are about to find out if that record can survive real conference competition.
