Forget Austin and Houston. Lubbock has the best coffee shop in Texas - USA Today

Chowhound released the rankings on July 17, naming one winner per state. To make the list, shops had to stand out not just for coffee quality but for what they bring to their local scene, including roasting processes, drink menus, atmosphere, and ethical mission. Lubbock's Monomyth checked enough of those boxes to come out ahead of every other shop in the state.

For a city that doesn't always get the recognition it deserves from the rest of Texas, this is the kind of outside validation that turns heads. People here know the local coffee scene has depth, but getting named best in Texas by a national food publication puts Monomyth in a different conversation entirely. Anyone who has written off Lubbock as a flyover stop between Dallas and El Paso now has a reason to reconsider.

For neighbors who already call Monomyth a regular stop, the ranking probably won't change their order. But it might mean longer lines as word spreads beyond the 806 area code.

Texas has no shortage of coffee culture, especially in Austin and Houston, which makes Lubbock taking the top slot that much harder to argue with.
