Frank Beard, the drummer who provided the iconic rhythm for legendary Texas boogie-rock trio ZZ Top, died Tuesday at his ranch in Richmond, Texas, at 77.
Billy Gibbons, ZZ Top's co-founder and guitarist, expressed his sorrow, calling Beard a "great friend and collaborator" and a "true son of Texas." Gibbons, currently on tour with bassist Elwood Francis, further highlighted that Beard's "signature backbeat was key to keeping ZZ on."
The news of Beard's death saddened many across the state.
