Global sorghum conference brings world experts to Lubbock - fox34.com

Experts from around the world flew in to talk water scarcity and sustainable production, the kind of conversations that usually happen overseas. Texas Tech students are sitting in on it too. Dr. Clint Krehbiel, dean of the Davis College at Texas Tech, said students are getting a global education without leaving Lubbock, learning from guest speakers and working through more than ten interactive displays set up for the 2026 Global Sorghum Conference.

Krehbiel said people from all over the world are on hand discussing everything from soil health to broader production challenges facing the crop. That mix puts Texas Tech students shoulder to shoulder with researchers and producers who normally show up in conference programs, not campus hallways.

Sorghum matters here, and having the people who study it worldwide gathered in one room gives Tech students and local producers access most college towns never see. A crop most people drive past without a second thought just pulled in a global audience, and this time Lubbock got picked first.
