Gregg earns best career finish as Inverness runner-up - Texas Tech Red Raiders

Only three players in the 90-golfer field finished under par. Host Toledo's Bence Bertenyi took medalist honors at 3-under 210, edging Gregg by a single stroke. Gregg played in the final group Tuesday and walked to the 18th hole still alive for a share of the individual lead.

His birdie attempt on that final hole slid by a foot, and he tapped in for par to lock in his 2-under total. Tuesday's round wasn't clean. Gregg sat even par through 11 holes after trading two birdies for two bogeys, then a double bogey on the par-3 12th knocked him off pace before he steadied down the stretch.

For Texas Tech's men's golf program, a strong result against a 90-player field carries weight heading into the rest of the season. Gregg's performance gives Red Raider fans a name to watch as fall tournaments continue.
