Gregg earns first collegiate win as Red Raiders finish third at OFCC - Texas Tech Red Raiders
Texas Tech golfer Gregg picked up his first collegiate win at the OFCC, posting a 13-under 197 to tie for the individual title as the Red Raiders finished third as a team.
Gregg got there by carding rounds of 65-64-68. The win comes just days after he turned in the best individual finish of his career at the Inverness Intercollegiate, where he finished runner-up.
As a team, Texas Tech closed at 37-under 803 after firing a 12-under 268 in the final round. That put the Red Raiders one stroke behind No. 12 Illinois, which shot 802, and three strokes behind No. 4 Arizona State, which took the team title at 40-under 800. Bad weather forced the tournament to wrap a day earlier than planned.
For Tech's program, this is the kind of week that matters heading into the rest of the fall schedule. Finishing third against a field that included a top-five national team like Arizona State is a solid measuring stick.
Two tournaments, two Gregg performances near the top of the leaderboard. Red Raiders fans will be watching to see if the streak holds.
