ICE Confirms They Have Detained Commentator Milo Yiannopoulos - Deadline

DHS posted a statement on its X account saying Yiannopoulos legally entered the United States on May 14, 2019, through New York City. He never left on schedule, and an immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22 after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for his immigration hearing.

"He chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation's laws," DHS said in its statement, describing him as an "illegal alien from the United Kingdom."

The arrest puts Yiannopoulos, a provocateur who built a following through far-right media appearances and online commentary, in the same legal position as the undocumented immigrants his political allies have long targeted for removal.

Yiannopoulos entered the country six years ago and remained through a final removal order without appearing before an immigration judge, ending with federal agents detaining him at a Louisiana airport.
