Meet the new-look 2026-27 Texas Tech basketball team - Lubbock Avalanche-Journal
Texas Tech basketball opened practice Tuesday at United Supermarkets Arena, giving Lubbock its first look at the new-look 2026-27 Red Raiders under head coach Grant McCasland.
JT Toppin watched from the sidelines during the session, while players including Darrion Williams and Cruz Davis worked through drills on the court. Also on the court was assistant coach Achoki Moikobu, working alongside McCasland as part of the staff shaping this year's roster.
United Supermarkets Arena has hosted plenty of preseason buzz over the years. This fall is no different for people who follow the program closely, and Tuesday's session gave fans an early read on who might anchor the rotation once real games start.
A new roster means new questions about who steps up alongside returning faces like Williams, and how a reshaped coaching staff under McCasland puts its stamp on the team before the season tips off.
