'Multiple patients' after Amazon cargo plane crashes at Miami airport

Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said the plane came to rest in a field adjacent to the airport. Social media video showed the aircraft off the runway with its tail over the fence and thick black smoke rising from the wreckage. Local officials described the scene as chaotic, with multiple people transported to area hospitals.

More than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to the crash. MDFR Chief Ray Jadallah confirmed a fuel leak from the aircraft during a news briefing, with crews working to contain it. The Federal Aviation Administration also confirmed the plane overran the runway.
