No. 23 Tech welcomes UNM for Thursday exhibition

Texas Tech's No. 23 women's soccer team hits the pitch Thursday night, kicking off the entire 2026-27 athletic calendar right here at home. They'll host New Mexico for their only exhibition before heading to Hawaii for the regular season opener.

You can catch the action for free at 7 p.m. at the John Walker Soccer Complex, just off Marsha Sharp Freeway, a short drive from the Depot District. This is the first time Tech has faced the Lobos since a hard-fought draw in 2023. For folks who can't make it to the game, no live stream is available, but the official Texas Tech site will post a full recap and box score.

This exhibition offers a perfect evening for Lubbock families or students still in town, especially with Buddy Holly Hall and the Science Spectrum nearby. It's a chance to cheer on a nationally ranked team and see what's in store for the fall before competitive play really takes off. The Red Raiders finished last season strong.
