MAN ARRESTED FOR INTOXICATION ASSAULT AFTER EARLY-MORNING CRASH IN WEST LUBBOCK - fox34.com
A pickup driven by 38-year-old Mark Garcia collided with another pickup at the intersection of 4th Street and West Loop 289 early Saturday morning, leaving the other driver with serious injuries and Garcia facing an intoxication assault charge.
Lubbock police responded to the crash around 12:15 a.m. After getting a report of a collision with injuries. Investigators say Garcia's truck hit a pickup driven by 21-year-old David Raymer inside the intersection, a stretch of west Lubbock that sees steady traffic even late at night given its spot along the Loop.
EMS took Raymer to Covenant Medical Center for treatment. Garcia walked away with only minor injuries. Police arrested him at the scene on charges of Intoxication Assault and Resisting Search, then booked him into the Lubbock County Jail.
For anyone driving that stretch of Loop 289 near 4th Street, the crash is a rough reminder of how fast a routine late-night drive can turn serious. Raymer's exact condition wasn't detailed beyond the initial report.
One driver ends up in a hospital bed, the other in a jail cell, both from a crash that happened before most of Lubbock had even gone to sleep.
