Reward increased in 2017 Fatal Hit-and-Run - KCBD

Barron was struck and killed in the early morning hours of February 10, 2017, on the eastbound access road near the Marsha Sharp Freeway and Avenue Q. A Lubbock Police officer was flagged down by a passing motorist around 12:36 a.m. After someone spotted a man walking in the middle of the street. When the officer arrived, Barron was already lying in the road and was pronounced dead at the scene. The department's Major Crash Unit took over the investigation.

LPD says detectives have chased down hundreds of leads over the years, and none of them cracked the case. The driver who hit Barron has never been identified. Raising the reward is a deliberate push to shake something loose from someone who may have stayed quiet out of fear, uncertainty, or something else entirely.

For Barron's family, nearly ten years without answers is a long time to carry that weight. Someone in Lubbock knows something about what happened on that access road before sunrise in February 2017.
