Robin Evans, Suzanne Comer win South Plains Women's Golf awards - Lubbock Avalanche-Journal
Robin Evans of the Rawls Course claimed medalist honors at the South Plains Women's Golf Association's end of year awards, with Suzanne Comer of Hillcrest Golf & Country Club taking the Renata Hargrave Award for low net.
The awards close out a season of play across Lubbock's local courses, from the Rawls Course to Hillcrest to LakeRidge Country Club. Myra Chapa of LakeRidge picked up Sportswoman of the Year, and her home course took home the Vivian Parks team trophy for the year. The Sept. 15 results came out of a round at Hillcrest.
For the women who play these courses week in and week out, this is the local golf scene's version of a season wrap-up. It gives real stakes beyond just Saturday bragging rights. That LakeRidge swept both team and individual honors this year says something about the depth of its roster.
It is a small honor in the grand scheme of things, but golf in Lubbock runs deep, and these are the results that get talked about at the club long after the trophies get handed out. Three different courses, three different winners, one shared season.
