Rubber ducks by the thousands splash into Chicago River for annual Special Olympics fundraiser - EverythingLubbock.com
Ninety thousand rubber ducks just took over the Chicago River, all for a cause that hits home right here in Lubbock.
The event saw ducks dumped from a half-raised bridge. Thousands of spectators watched the yellow pool form and then float for about fifteen minutes before organizers plucked a winner and runner-up. An accompanying festival engaged the crowd with inflatable ducks and chalkboards, all for Special Olympics Illinois.
Locally, Special Olympics Texas provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
