Anyone on the list has until Oct. 5 to update their address if they want to vote in a different county, a deadline that matters for Texas Tech students, renters who moved across town, or anyone who shifted between neighborhoods like Tech Terrace and the Depot District without telling the county.

Alicia Pierce, assistant Secretary of State for Communications, said the suspense list exists to protect voters and keep rolls accurate, and that the current numbers track with what the state typically sees at this point in an election cycle.

For Lubbock County residents, the fix is simple. Check the list, confirm the address is current, and update it before Oct. 5 if it isn't.

Ten thousand names is a lot of paperwork for one county, and the clock on fixing it is already running.
