Lubbock ISD, city host second annual Tricycle Derby - fox34.com

The derby kicks off at 9 a.m. At Safety City, located at 4500 Ave. U. Organizers built the event around teaching young kids safety basics while they compete in heats split by age group, so a 3-year-old won't be racing against a 5-year-old.

Tricycles will be on site for families who need one, but kids can also bring their own from home. Registration is required even though the event stays open to the public, and families are told to show up at least 10 minutes early to get settled before their heat starts.
