CHP's South Sacramento division said the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. North of Antioch. A Kia Forte driving northbound crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a Ford F-250 pickup truck that was hauling equipment.
The driver of the Kia died at the scene. The two people riding in the truck were taken to the hospital with injuries, CHP said. Roads in the area closed following the crash as investigators worked the scene.
CHP has not released the identities of those involved or said what caused the Kia to cross the center line.
