Bresnu, Wiedemeyer named to Haskins Award preseason watch list - Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Haskins Award honors the top men's college golfer in the country, and both Red Raiders carried over from last spring's list, putting them among just seven returners out of 25 total names. The other holdovers come from programs like Oklahoma, Alabama, Oklahoma State, San Diego State, and Arizona State, so Tech is the only school with two players on the list.

What makes the recognition land is the numbers behind it. Both Bresnu and Wiedemeyer tied for the lowest scoring average on the team last season, each at 70.0. Bresnu reached that mark over 36 rounds, Wiedemeyer over 34. Both also posted a 68.6 adjusted scoring average, which accounts for course and field difficulty and is the cleaner measure of elite-level consistency.

For Tech golf fans, having two players on the same national watch list is not something you see every year. The Red Raiders do not have to choose which guy to root for.
